Jelly Cleaver
Manage episode 333587462 series 3368771
We're back again with another weekly episode!
This week, we had the pleasure of talking to the absolute dreamboat, Jelly Cleaver, who is a producer, band-leader, DJ, guitarist and singer-songwriter based in South London.
With an eclectic taste in music, Jelly is heavily involved in both the jazz and DIY/punk scenes in London. The Supreme Standards have claimed her to be ‘the next artist to make an impact on the London Jazz Scene’. She’s also an activist, and a strain of political dissent runs through her music.
In this episode, not only do we get a bit political (!) but we also talk about the transformative nature of music, living with your bandmates, creating safe spaces and Jelly's work with Tomorrow's Warriors, an innovative jazz music education and artist development organisation that is committed to increasing diversity across the arts through jazz, with a special focus on those from the African diaspora and girls. Also, we get to grips with her eclectic taste and love of charity shops!
