Matteo Negro, CEO of Cambridge Raman Imaging Ltd, a portfolio company of Frontier IP Group PLC (AIM:FIPP), joins Proactive's Stephen Gunnion with more on the company's innovative Coherent Raman Imaging technology. Cambridge Raman Imaging’s laser technology produces detailed digital images of human cells and tissues in near real-time. It can be incorporated with standard medical microscopes, and operated by non-specialists. Traditional techniques required surgeons to remove samples of cells and tissues, and chemically stain them to detect anomalies, such as tumours. Alternative imaging technologies are bulky, expensive and need specialist operators to make them work. Negro explained that Cambridge Raman Imaging’s laser technology produces detailed digital images of human cells and tissues in near real-time. It can be incorporated with standard medical microscopes, and operated by non-specialists, such as researchers or histopathologists. The technology is therefore faster, more accurate and easier to use than existing techniques. Cambridge Raman Imaging recently launched a pre-Series A funding round to accelerate growth, scale the team, and build an independent manufacturing facility. This funding will also support the clinical validation and regulatory approval process for tumour diagnosis.
