Jenni and Suze start their deep dive into triggers. They encourage their fellow Insight Maximizers out there to approach, not avoid triggers. In fact, they suggest that people that want maximum insight naturally approach triggers with curiosity. Yes, they do!

But first, Jenni and Suze jump into the definition. A trigger is “something that evokes a strong reaction”. Although we tend to think of triggers in the context of negative emotions, some triggers might feel good to us, such as a song from the past that evokes a tender memory.

Once they establish what a trigger is, they dive into why triggers matter. Why do we want to approach our triggers? One of the many reasons that they discuss is the principle that: “what we resist persists”.

After they identify what a trigger is and why it’s important, Jenni and Suze talk about how to recognize when we’ve been triggered. Here’s where they share their therapeutic and coaching tools that they use both professionally and personally to quickly identify triggers and get faster insight.

They challenge the Insight Maximizer community to observe their reactions, including the intensity of emotions. And shift their mindset to approach triggers with curiosity rather than avoid them.

Be sure to join them for their next episode when they discuss what to do about triggers; “So, You’ve Been Triggered. What Now?
