The Practice Of Zen And Fear Of Change
Manage episode 461263435 series 3450378
Today, we're sitting in a garden of sand, implementing the ancient practice of Zen, with the founder of Mountain Moon Coaching, Jean Selkirk. She's joining us to talk a bit about the benefits of Zen, along with the idea of change.
We start the conversation off with Ms. Selkirk discussing her journey with the concept of change, from her childhood to coaching. We cover the idea of something being changeable, as well as how coaching can be required to help people overcome their fear of change or to help them realize that something is actually changeable. Along with this, we discuss the bloom of coaching and mentoring, especially online.
Ms. Selkirk then discusses her journey with coaching, and how she got into it. With this, she gives advice for enacting change in your life, and we discuss the existence of negative thoughts and fears, and how they can truly hinder us.
From there, we shift into the practice of Zen, discussing philosophy and meditation, as well as the role it can play in mental health, healing, and change. Ms. Selkirk shares with us the Zen practice of naming the student, explaining how she became Mountain Moon, which then became her business, Mountain Moon Coaching. We then discuss who she coaches, along with some advice and resources, concluding the episode.
