THE PRESENTENCE REPORT (PSR), NARRATIVE, YOUR PROBATION OFFICER, AND JUDGE

INDICTED AND FACING PRISON
I’m Dr. Marc Blatstein. I’ve been where you are and am here to help you on your journey. With work, I got my license reinstated and my career back.

For more info., check out PPRSUS.com.

· Prison is Temporary.
Knowledge and Preparation will help build back the confidence you’ll need to get through this process.

· Since you’ve heard that the Feds have been asking questions, their case against you is mostly complete, approaching a 98% Conviction Rate.
· Hiring a legal team doesn’t just mean they have experience; they also need a proven track record of successfully defending cases like yours.

· The choices you make today - will help you tomorrow.
This is important because preparation begins with preparing for your presentence interview, and the most important person in your life to date is your probation officer. The probation officer will interview you and conduct their investigation.
But if you have taken the time to write a heartfelt narrative that you provided along with everything else they requested 1-2 weeks before your interview, they may have the time to get to know who You are.
If all goes right, they may come away from the meeting with a feeling of a person that is the opposite of the Indictment they have been reading when they recommend your sentence to the Judge. No Promises, but yes!
That’s why it is very helpful to be prepared, and included in this preparation is a well-written, introspective, heartfelt personal narrative. Judges understand that crimes don’t happen in a vacuum; they want to know what happened in your life that caused you to do this. No excuses. Accept responsibility while having remorse for the victims harmed. If you’re lucky, this may prompt the judge to converse with you at sentencing, where you can speak from the heart, covering the points in the narrative.
No witness tampering. Hopefully, you have been working, volunteering, or caring for a disabled or sick relative in the time period before sentencing because judges don’t want to learn that you’ve been doing nothing but sitting at home. If you have multiple cars and houses, sell them if you’re facing a financial penalty (i.e., restitution)
But with no narrative, then the DOJ has written your story for you in the form of your INDICTMENT, and the judge will use that to sentence you.

· This makes the PSR much more critical than the sentencing memorandum.
