In this year’s upcoming legislative session, Democrats in both the House and Senate will be reintroducing a wealth tax for Washington. Listeners to this show are aware that our state has the most upside down tax structure in the nation, and this bill would work to partially address that by levying a 1% tax on residents with assets above $250 million, impacting about 700 individuals here in the state. The bill is being sponsored by Rep. My-Linh Thai (LD 41), who joins us to talk about the many benefits of a wealth tax for Washingtonians.
