Here’s my chat with Jade Armstrong about the new graphic novel Food School from Conundrum Press at Toronto Comic Arts Festival 2024.

Jade Armstrong is a non-binary Canadian cartoonist originally from Almonte, Ontario but now resides in Toronto. Jade originally started in animation and worked as a background painter in television before making the move to the graphic novel scene. They are a member of the comics collective Hello Boyfriend. They wrote and drew the middle grade graphic novel Scout Is Not a Band Kid and the new adult contemporary comic Food School from Conundrum Press.

In Food School, Olive post-secondary education isn’t what they’d planned. Instead of college, they spend five days a week, eight hours a day at a full-time outpatient program for eating disorder recovery where they learn, talk, and cry about eating disorders as part of a survivor support group.
