Welcome to the Building Transfer Centers series! This multi-episode series spotlights university and 4-year institution transfer centers. We interview transfer center directors to learn about their center’s history and operations, as well as the nuts and bolts of developing spaces and programming that work for the communities specific to each institution.

Our featured guest for this episode is Dr. Wendolyn Davis! At the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Dr. Davis leads the Transfer Center with combined teams of Transfer Student Recruitment and Transfer Evaluation and Operations. She is responsible for developing and implementing a transfer recruitment and enrollment management strategic plan to increase enrollment of undergraduate transfer students and add to the cumulative enrollment management strategic plan. Additionally, she teaches TRNS 201 – Transitioning to Rocky Top, a transfer transition course led by the Office of Academic Success First Year Programs. She also serves as an Intercultural Diversity Inventory Advisory Board Member and Qualified Administrator.
Prior to her role at UT, Dr. Davis served as the Assistant Director of Transfer Student Services at Central Michigan University, as well as successfully completed the three-year leadership track of the Michigan ACRAO where she served as president-elect (2017), president (2018), and past-president in (2019). She is active in the national association, has written for the association’s Connect, and served as a session presenter at an Annual Conference. She is currently a member of the Transfer and Articulation Committee, a Vice Chair of the Black Caucus, and member of the Public Policy Advisory Group.
Dr. Davis holds a PhD, in Organization and Management, an MBA in Human Resource Management, a BS in Applied Psychology and an Associate Degree in General Studies. What inspires Dr. Davis about her work is the transfer students. “It’s not only those who enroll each semester, it is also those we have the opportunity and privilege of showing that they belong at a 4-year institution and they belong at this institution.”
