Many people hold intuitively to an understanding that whoever you are, God loves you equally as much as he does every other human being. That divine love carries no distinction or particular preference. That he longs over every human, breaking his heart to help them if they would only just let him. But is that what the Bible really portrays?

This week Pete and the Curious team examine the controversial idea that God may not love every human being with exactly the same fervour and intent. How do we understand the idea that God singularly chose Israel above any other nation, and dispensed particular favour on them (Duet 4:7/7:7-8)? How do we reconcile Jesus saying that he did not pray for the world but specifically for a certain people (Jn.17:9)? And what of those perplexing texts that speak of God’s hatred for the evil-doer (Ps.11:5/26:5)? And how do we understand the word, ‘Esau have I hated’ (Rom.9:13)?

Tune in as the Curious team attempt to come to grips with these conflicting thoughts.
