Gary Edgington been chasing the “bad guys” in one way or another since 1976. He worked as a police officer for several agencies including the Manhattan Beach Police Department, the Beverly Hills Police Department, and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
In 1994, he was appointed a Special Agent with the California Department of Justice where he worked major narcotics cases, organized crime, unsolved homicide, and internal affairs.
From 1999 to 2008, he was a member of the FBI’s “Joint Terrorism Task Force” in Los Angeles. This included promotion after 9/11 to Task Force Commander over a multi-agency counter-terrorism unit based in Southern California.
Gary retired in 2008 and deployed to Iraq as an embedded counterterrorism/organized crime subject matter expert working counter-IED with the US Army.
Following Iraq he became an intelligence/terrorism analyst with the Department of Defense, working on Guantanamo detainee cases. He also held a staff assignment at the U.S. Special Operations Command in Tampa, Florida.
Currently, Gary oversees southeastern US security operations for an international corporation.
He’s published articles in three magazines, a novel titled, Outside the Wire, and had a feature script optioned by a production company in Hollywood, California.
When not writing or chasing bad guys, he’s fishing or hanging out with his grandson.
In Outside the Wire
Outside the Wire vividly portrays the story of Rick Sutherland, retired LAPD Detective Lieutenant serving in Iraq as an embedded civilian counter-terrorism advisor, and Major Nancy Weaver, an Army doctor as they battle clandestine Iranian operatives bent on the slaughter of thousands of innocents, and ultimately—the destruction of America.
