Today's amazing guest is LT Jaleesa Harrigan, the Nuclear Reactor Propulsion Division Officer serving aboard the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln. After earning a BS in Mathematics from Howard University and serving as Communications Officer on a Naval deployment in 2014, LT Harrigan enrolled in the Navy’s Nuclear Power School Program where she learned how to participate in and oversee the operation of a nuclear reactor. LT Harrigan is only at the beginning of her incredibly impressive career, and we are honored to share her story so far!
Listen in as LT Harrigan and Lisa Mae Brunson - host of the Podcast and founder of Wonder Women Tech - discuss real and vulnerable topics from growing up as an outsider, pushing through self-doubt, to the importance of cheerleading!
Today's pioneering woman is Grace Hopper, U.S. Navy Rear Admiral, and computer programmer. Grace Hopper helped develop a compiler in 1952. Hopper joined the US Navy during world war II and was assigned to program the Mark One computer. She resumed active Naval service at the age of 60, becoming a rear Admiral before retiring in 1986.
