In this episode of The Unrestricted Podcast, host Ish Barri welcomes Dr. Esther Odama, a psychologist with a rich educational background and a passion for powerlifting. Originally from Nigeria, Dr. Odama immigrated to the United States at a young age and pursued her education at the University of Texas (UT), where she earned a Bachelor of Science, a Master's in Psychology, and a PhD in Psychology. Currently, she is working on an additional Master's degree to expand her therapeutic practice.

Dr. Odama's journey into powerlifting began after her initial love for basketball and her experiences with various sports throughout her life. Although she was hesitant at first, she eventually embraced powerlifting after being encouraged by her coaches. She has been actively involved in the sport since moving to Houston, where she found a supportive community at her first gym, the Warehouse Gym. Dr. Odama's dedication to powerlifting is evident in her achievements, including setting a state record with a squat of 413.64 pounds. Her commitment to fitness and strength training is not only a personal passion but also a reflection of her belief in the importance of perseverance and self-discovery through physical challenges.
