Brian Ondrako’s unique story began in the small town of Endicott, New York where I learned a lot about work ethic and gratitude from my Grandparents and early jobs as a Paper Carrier, Ice Cream Scooper, and Short-Order Cook. The long snowy winters weren’t helping my golf game so I ventured down to the whispering pines of North Carolina for college and never looked back. Upon graduating from Methodist University with a degree in Business Administration, I was sworn in as a member of the PGA of America and embarked on a new journey of teaching golf, forming Ondrako Golf Instruction, and starting a coaching business in Raleigh, North Carolina. I have always had a passion for coaching and enjoyed crafting programs that would help my players achieve their desired goals in the game of golf. From Junior Golf Camps to starting a Women’s Networking Group called BLING (Business Ladies in Golf), I was fortunate to have the opportunity to work with players of all skill levels and ages and share my love for the game of golf by helping them improve theirs. As time went on I realized I wanted to impact the world in a different way so I set out on a new career path that would provide me the skill set, experience, and network to lead me in that direction. Many of those skills were learned around sales, marketing, and leadership and I’ve been fortunate to have had some great mentors and colleagues along the way that have guided me to see my potential and where I can truly impact the world. Additionally, a renewed focus on my curiosity and imagination opened the door to what I call my “Renaissance Period” which brought me into a world of deep learning and exploration that I hadn’t fully embraced since childhood. In 2017, that curiosity sparked the entrepreneurial fire that has always been inside me but was buried for most of my life out of the fear of success and judgment of those around me. That year I began the Just Get Started Podcast where I interview people who are overcoming their fears, venturing out of their comfort zone, and trying to be fulfilled in their own lives. Each episode is an opportunity to remember that we have full control over what we make of our lives and the impact we leave on this planet. Currently, I am continuing to grow the Just Get Started Podcast, I’m finishing up my first Children’s Book, and I’m embarking on a 12-month challenge in 2020 around discovering new experiences and becoming a beginner learner once again. When I am not focused on these projects, I enjoy spending a lot of time outdoors with my son, hitting the CrossFit gym, watching my 49ers, or seeing if I can still hit that little white ball across a manicured lawn. My “North Star” in life is to impact our future generations by helping them navigate life through the lens of curiosity, gratitude, and healthy living and I try to use that north star to guide many of my decisions. I am always looking to connect with new people and hear about what cool adventures they are involved with.
