On this episode, we are joined by lead singer Dan Marsala of the St. Louis-based rock band Story of the Year. It's been a wild 20 years since the release of the bands debut studio album "Page Avenue', and we caught up with Dan to look back on the creation of this masterpiece that launched the band to the top of the post-hardcore / alternative rock scene. He dives into the formation and early days of the band, using creative and daring methods to attract the attention of genre staples like Goldfinger and Linkin Park, how they eventually went on to record with producer John Feldmann. Dan reveals the lessons he learned as a vocalist, songwriter, and musician throughout that process, as well as how his approaches to recording vocals and performing live have changed since then.
