Good afternoon, Hoyas! It's Monday, August 25, 2025, and here's what's happening around Georgetown University. Henle Village, our newest residential complex, is now open and ready to welcome students. This state-of-the-art facility offers apartment-style living with in-unit laundry, a communal kitchen, prayer and meditation rooms, and a game room. Additionally, the university hotel is set to undergo renovations this fall to modernize its facilities, including 146 guest rooms and expanded event spaces. Georgetown has launched a new Disability Studies major within the College of Arts & Sciences, one of the first programs of its kind in the nation. This interdisciplinary program aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of disability from various perspectives. In an effort to build a more inclusive and diverse student community, Georgetown will begin accepting the Common Application starting in August 2026 for the Fall 2027 entering class. This change is expected to make the application process more accessible to a broader range of prospective students. The Georgetown Hoyas men's basketball team recently represented the United States in the 2025 GLOBL JAM tournament in Toronto, finishing as the runner-up after a hard-fought game against Brazil in the gold medal match. In other sports news, the women's soccer team has announced its 2025 schedule, featuring 18 regular-season matches, including nine at Shaw Field. The season kicks off with a home game against Old Dominion on August 14. The Georgetown University Student Association (GUSA) has launched the "Save Georgetown Day" petition, aiming to reform policies implemented in 2024 that led to stricter regulations during the annual Georgetown Day celebrations. GUSA emphasizes the importance of balancing student safety with the preservation of campus traditions. That's all for today's update. Stay tuned for more news and events happening around the Hilltop.
