Mariamu Sillah is the walking embodiment of embracing one’s dual identities all while pushing through the hustle and bustle of New York City. Raised within the confinements of a strict Gambian-Muslim household, Mariamu often felt trapped by cultural expectations placed her both at home and from her community.
