• “Hearing from God” may not be as kooky as we imagine.
• The most important thing, according to Jesus, is to love God and to love others as yourself, which is relational. The most important thing to Jesus is totally and completely relationship focussed.
• It was a gift from God to allow Larry to do life without Him, so that now it is so clear that I desperately need him.
• God already holds every answer to the easiest and most difficult questions we could ever ask him, but will we let him be God to us and answer every question we have.

• How do we start to listen and hear:

1. We can start by looking at all of the different ways he speaks in scripture. It is a gift that we can start with his written word.
2. Ask God to bring revelation of truth as we read scripture.
• It’s as easy as saying, “Holy Spirit I am dependent upon you to reveal the truth of what I am reading.”
3. He speaks through our thoughtlife,which is in our own “voice.” If we are praying and listening, we should pay close attention to the next thoughts that come to our mind.

• A list of some questions to ask God are:

1. Lord, what do you want me to know in my life right now?
2. Lord, you know my greatest challenge in life right now, what do you want me to know about it right now?
3. Lord, what does it mean that I am your adopted son?
4. Lord, wIll you show you how you love me?
5. Lord, what do you think of me?
6. Lord, what do you like about the way you created me?
7. Lord, what do you want most for me?
8. Lord, why do I matter to you?
9. Lord, do I have what it takes to be a man after your own heart?
10. Lord, who have you made me to be as a man of God? ...as a husband? ...as a father?
• God is with you and wants to be with you.
• Even if we are discouraged about all of this and are worried about where to start, we can ask God.
• Also, use your own style. Some guys need to take a question for God and go for a hike or do the thing that helps you connect.
• Finally, from Larry: you can do this. Ask God for help. Stick with it. And, you have no idea how alive you can be and will become.
