When a young Eva Kollisch arrives as a refugee in New York in 1940, she finds a community among socialists who share her values and idealism. She soon discovers ‘the cause’ isn’t as idyllic as it seems. Little does she know this is the beginning of a lifelong commitment to activism and her determination to create radical change in ways that include belonging, love and one's full self. In addition to Eva Kollisch’s memoirs Girl in Movement (2000) and The Ground Under My Feet (2014), LBI’s collections include an oral history interview with Eva conducted in 2014 and the papers of Eva’s mother, poet Margarete Kolllisch, which document Eva’s childhood experience on the Kindertransport. What can separate us from the unconditional love of God, expressed through salvation in Jesus? According to the Apostle Paul, nothing can. Nothing. No thing. There are about 100 times that the phrase "one another" shows up in the Bible. We're starting a new series this week focused on some of them, and how they influence our daily life with one another.
The Bible is really clear on the fact that women can't be in leadership positions in the Church, right? ...Right...?Maybe we should give that a second look, too... ----------------- Our website FB Page Prayer Requests Give here
For many Christians (especially Western, Evangelical ones...) the idea of Hell as a place of eternal conscious torment that everyone who doesn't give their life to Jesus is destined for is pretty central. We often go so far as to try to "scare the hell out" of people in order to get them to "turn or burn." But what does the Bible actually say about hell? ----------------- Our website FB Page Prayer Requests Give here…
Are there hidden messages from God embedded in the original texts of the Bible? If there are, is it possible to decipher them with a quick Google search or a very rudimentary understanding of Biblical Hebrew and Greek? The answer is 'no' to both questions, but come along for the ride anyways! ------------------ Our website FB Page Prayer Requests Give here…
Are we living in the End Times? Do these social media videos prove it? Does it really matter if we are? Should it?
If our faith is about... you know, faith... then why do we feel such a strong urge to *prove* everything?
Our website FB Page Prayer Requests Give here -------------------- This week we take a look at pastors who go too hard on the Greek word study, and cowboys who don't realize that the translation they prefer is actually the one that changed the text.
