Bliss Griffin’s career is driven by a deep belief that the societal benefit of the performing arts is immeasurable. Too often, however, the arts industry fails to welcome artists and audiences with marginalized identities. She is committed to applying her experience as a performer, an organizational leader, and budding entertainment attorney to build a thriving and lucrative arts and entertainment industry that uplifts its artists and reflects and welcomes every community.
She holds a BFA in Acting from the University of Miami and spent the first decade of her career as a theatre actor. In 2019, she completed an MBA in Management at Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business, and she continues her studies as an evening student at Fordham School of Law focusing on labor and employment, discrimination, and entertainment law.
Bliss currently serves as the the National Diversity and Inclusion Strategist at Actors’ Equity Association, the labor union representing over fifty thousand stage actors and stage managers. She directs all D&I initiatives and functions as an internal consultant to ensure that all of Equity’s activities are truly inclusive and foster a sense of belonging among those who are systemically marginalized.
When Bliss not in the office or classroom, She’s inhaling true crime podcasts, training her Newfie pup Quimbee, or city strolling in Harlem. In the era of COVID-19 quarantine, she has directed her creative impulse toward adventures in home décor. Should she mention throw pillows or a new accent wall, please do not encourage her.
