The author, Taryn Voget, draws from the "Acorn Theory" of psychologist James Hillman, suggesting that children are born with a pre-determined "attendant spirit" or "daimon" that guides their future, even if they are unaware of it. This theory challenges traditional psychological views that behavior is solely shaped by past experiences, instead proposing that the future can influence our actions in the present.
