Kim Deal on Nobody Loves You More, Solo Adventures, and Long-Running Creativity
Manage episode 458197761 series 3457789
With her work with the Pixies and The Breeders, Kim Deal is no stranger to iconic records. But her latest, Nobody Loves You More, marks a true milestone: her first true solo album. During her chat with Kyle Meredith, Deal shares insights into the album's decade-long journey, explaining, “I’ve been working on this since around 2011, releasing 7-inch singles here and there, but this record started feeling like an album around 2016.”
The album, recorded across multiple locations from Kentucky to Chicago, brings a distinctive sound. “This isn’t a Breeders album,” Deal emphasizes. With lush string arrangements, the songs explore new sonic territory.
Deal also touches on performing with The Breeders on Olivia Rodrigo’s recent tour and the excitement of stepping onto stages like Madison Square Garden.
With Nobody Loves You More landing on numerous year-end best-of lists (including Consequence’s own!), Kim Deal’s solo chapter has clearly struck a chord. As she puts it, “It’s been a long road, but this is exactly where I want to be.”
