Olympic skier and podcast editor Mark Engel joins this episode of the Sensei Said So show to talk to your hosts, VO Sensei and Shado, about retiring as an athlete. Mark mentions that he has been having a hard time transitioning to the next part of life, and VO and Shado, who both competed in sports at a very competitive level, tell their stories and offer their advice on how to smooth out that transition. Also, Cardi B's recent comments on drugging and robbing men are discussed. VO asks why it is that we judge certain hip hop celebrities for their past lives and not others? A lively discussion follows! Finally, everybody focuses in on the tragic death of Nipsey Hussle. Tough questions are asked, such as: does glorifying violence in hip hop brings down black culture? Does glorifying violence in hip hop help "cause" these sort of killings, or does the violence arise because of the economic and social factors in certain neighborhoods in the US? Does making uplifiting music help the culture? Can boycotting violent music change the culture? There may be no concrete answers to these difficult questions, but we at the Sensei Said So Show believe these questions are worth discussing.
