I'm thrilled to introduce you to Tony Nabors, the Founder of Racial Equity Insights, who brings over 20 years of experience in anti-racism work. Tony has held transformative roles, including being the first Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for a public housing authority in Washington state. He’s now living a truly global life, having relocated his family from the U.S. to Tanzania, then South Africa, and now Costa Rica.

We talk about the powerful lessons Tony has learned about race while living abroad particularly the intersection of slavery and colonialism. Tony shares deeply insightful reflections on the difference between living in the global north vs the global south, calling in vs calling out, the reframing of white privilege to 'white immunity' and the harmful racial lessons that even Black folks who are not immune to this work are making.

We also get into strategies for handling “whataboutism,” a common tactic that derails conversations about race, and how we can begin the essential work of decolonising our minds.

This episode is a must-listen for anyone passionate about dismantling harmful racial ideologies and striving for a more just world.
