The word deacon comes from a Greek word that means to render service. This passage does not describe the duties of the deacon. It describes character and observable behavior. A man of dignity is a man who is worthy of respect. He is honorable, noble in character, and serious about his duties. The Greek word "double-tongued" means speaking in two directions.
