This episode features four presentations on the current and projected socioeconomic impacts of COVID-19 in the region with a special focus on the differential impacts on women, moderated by the Honourable Alincia Williams-Grant, President of the Senate of Antigua and Barbuda.

Ambassador Irwin LaRoque, Secretary General of CARICOM, notes the importance of partnerships to overcome the crisis and the urgency to address climate change to promote a sustainable and inclusive economic recovery; Diane Quarless, Chief of the ECLAC Subregional Headquarters for the Caribbean highlights the inequalities and vulnerabilities affecting the resilience of the region, and the need to pursue innovative access to finance and support regional partnerships; Monika Queisser, Head of Social Policy Division, OECD shares the global economic perspective and recovery measures that legislators can consider to ensure that legislative and public policy responses are gender-inclusive; Therese Turner-Jones, General Manager of the Country Department Caribbean Group, IADB provides insights on the pre-COVID19 gender inequality in the Caribbean that has been exacerbated by this crisis which disproportionately impacted women, and gender-sensitive legislative and public policy responses that parliaments can consider in their work to promote an economic recovery.
