Last week, parts of Ontario and the U.S. spent a number of days under a special air quality advisory from the smoke and dust lingering in the air from wildfires in Quebec. In all, Canada is experiencing more than 440 wildfires across the country and even this early in the season, the country has already exceeded the number of hectares burned in 2021. Steve Paikin and John Michael McGrath dive into the crisis and look at the government response.
Reverberations from the federal probe into alleged election interference by China during the last Canadian election are still being felt in Ontario. Vincent Ke, MPP for Don Valley North, has filed a statement of claim against Global News for its reporting on him.
There are just two weeks to go before the Toronto mayoral byelection. Steve and John Michael check-in on how the race is progressing and the job that Jennifer McKelvie, who replaced John Tory in the interim, has done as the city's temporary leader.
