GRANDPRIX247 Editors Paul Velasco & Jad Mallak react to the news that Michael Andretti’s bid with Cadillac to become the eleventh team in Formula 1 will not happen in the near future, basically telling them to get lost until there is no place on the ten-team grid for them until at least 2028.
The decision to reject Andretti’s bid will largely satisfy the current short-sighted ten F1 teams and indeed a victory for them, but is a huge defeat for the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) and its president Mohammed Ben Sulayem who rubber-stamped the entry.
The decision by the Stefano Domenicali-led organisation is a black-eye to Ben Sulayem who said that the Andretti-Cadillac bid was an offer that F1 cannot refuse, but they have.
