This is a very special episode where I asked my client Alysondra Duke to share her story of building an incredible life of empowerment, self-love, expansion, and conscious relating. Alysondra has come from a life that has not been easy - a tough childhood with less than ideal caregiving that led to relational wounding that impacted her adult relationships. When we met, she was settling for way less than she deserved in relationships. Now, with committed work and dedication to building a life that she is proud of, she is a completely different person. I can't wait to share this inspiring conversation with you!
We talk about:
- How childhood dynamics with parents/caregivers imprint us and play out in our adult relationships
- Rebelling against being told you can't do something/be something (using it as fuel)
- The pattern of choosing unavailable partners and where this comes from
- The wound of 'needing to be chosen'
- People pleasing and needing to caretake others, abandoning our own needs
- Developing healthy self-love and self-worth as a foundation for healthy relationships
- Learning to put ourselves first when we are 'givers' or empaths
- Moving towards secure attachment from avoidant or anxious attachment
- Owning your patterns and healing them as a source of empowerment vs. being stuck in victim mentality
- The empath-narcissist dynamic and the importance of boundaries
- How gaslighting chips away at self-esteem and creates confusion and self-distrust
- Calling bad behavior what it is vs. being overly nice and accepting
- The 'high tolerance for bullshit' that is so common with empaths
- Spotting red flags and developing discernment while dating
- How to use the body as an instrument, tuning in to what it's telling you when you're around other people
- How trauma can impact our sexuality
- Watching our attraction patterns as we are healing (when we know we are typically attracted to partners who don't treat us well)
- Our grand visions for what incredible relationships look like
