YARRR! "You are really ready" for this 50th episode, especially if ye believe our society be in need of more mental prowess! Lauren Waldman is on a mission to aid Learning & Development, and learning makers in general, in comprehending the workings of the human brain. Understanding such be key to advancing e-learning, making it captivating and impactful. In her lively e-learning course titled "Joining Forces with Your Brain," Lauren Waldman demonstrates just how this can be achieved. In this podcast episode, she delves into various strategies for a triumphant learning approach. 01:00 You call yourself Learning Pirate. What is this Pirate-thing? 02:00 Why are you so nerdy about the brain itself? 03:19 On your website there is a sentence „the brain makes all of us“. So every personality really is made up 100% by the brain? No soul, no heart, no guts, no glory? 04:39 I recently did a Harvard Business School Online elearning after work. I literally fell asleep 5 times. After that I voluntarily continued with your course "joining-forces-with-your-brain“. This elearning felt like an interactive fun Netflix series, although it was 100% asynchronous. What is your secret, why did it feel that way from your point of view? 07:55 I liked the jokes, fast fun parts, interviews with random people, funny kids, teasering and creating curiosity, changing camera settings, outtakes, a Homer Simpson flying in, engaging music, engaging appeals to pause and to write something down. I assume these elements are all part of the visible didactic. As you said people need to expect the unexpected and novelties. What were the invisible didactical parts? 10:55 One can really see that a lot of money went into the recording and production of this elearning. This elearning is clearly not fitting to any authoring tool nor is it similar to a rookie, user generated content. What is your opinion about authoring tools or user generated content? 13:30 What are your top recipes for people who have to work with authoring tools? 16:30 Let’s say I want a fun e-learning like the one that you provided. Is this something you can support me in? What would be the next steps? 18:18 You mentioned an interesting aspect about learning with Google, YouTube, LinkedIn. Would you kindly explain more about the connection between these content sources and brain energy? 19:48 I am training for a marathon. Any brain-advice for me? I realize the brain is the most mental hurdle on achieving this.
