There is something about seeing performative violence on stage that has captivated audiences since the very first plays some 2,500 years ago. But the dramatic actions taken either on stage or on screen obviously can't be real, right? I mean... obviously most plays don't end in a real murder, but what about the rest? Just how much of what we watch is pretend?

Also I do apologize for the delay of the episode. I've been gravely ill as you can no doubt hear and without power, which has been a blast.

Welcome to the Just Dumb Enough Podcast. A show that acknowledges no one is always an expert, by dispelling misconceptions with real experts. I'm your host as always Colton Petry.

My guests today are Brittany Holdahl Donahue and J. Oliver Donahue. This husband and wife combo are the founders of Argent Combat, a training center for some of the coolest of yet most misunderstood of skills: Stage Combat. The three of us are pretty open during the interview about what nerds we are, but how awesome is it that you can go to a place and learn sword fighting, knife play, and unarmed combat training without actually hurting your partner.
And that's a theme you'll notice throughout the episode; this practice can give you so much more than a showy new trick. It can help you in a swath of other ways, like communication with those close to you, a better understanding of yourself, and so much more. I hope you'll stick around for one of the most fun recording sessions I've had to date, with two absolutely incredible people. ( Www.ArgentCombat.Com )

Let's get (kind of) violent!

I know this was a long one, but honestly I just had fun hanging out with these two incredible people. I hope you enjoyed that as well! I also think there is something so almost ironic about picking up a weapon to reassure oneself that they'll not do harm again. It's almost poetic.

Anyway, the October rankings as of now:
1. The United States, led by Washington, Ohio, and New York.
2. The United Kingdom, with England now firmly at the top.
3. Australia, led back to the top 3 by New South Wales.
4. Canada, with Alberta just barely edging out Ontario.
5. Bulgaria, still hanging in with the top 5 for now.

That's it for this week! Have a great weekend I'll see you all back here for the next episode!
Until the next episode, please do all the things to help the show: rate, review, like, and subscribe.
