When we talk about change, we often refer to something we self-initiate to make our lives better or to push us forward toward our goals. But what happens when change hits us unexpectedly from behind? These changes can come in the form of a diagnosis, relationship change, lifestyle shift, the list goes on. Whatever it is, the way you cope with these circumstances can either set you up for success or lead you down a rabbit hole that can be difficult to get out of. Thats why this week on Journeys Through Change, I’m sharing my advice on navigating unexpected change.

  • Know what is in or out of your control and don’t spend time focusing on the things you cannot change.
  • Adopt a positive mindset moving forward, even if it shifts from one day to the next.
  • Find a supportive community and distance yourself from the people who drain your energy.
  • Regardless of your resistance, get up and move your body (I promise you’ll feel better afterward).
  • Words of encouragement you can reflect on and repeat to yourself when faced with unexpected change.
