In our latest podcast, Gabriella Guerrero, executive director of La Politeka—a political education initiative—shares her insights on the upcoming presidential and congressional elections in Ecuador. Ecuador is grappling with two pressing challenges: an energy crisis and soaring violence. While the energy crisis remains a pressing concern for Ecuadorian voters, Guerrero notes that public opinion has become increasingly desensitized to violence, despite the tragic murder of a presidential candidate just two years ago. January 2025 has set a disturbing record as the most violent month in modern Ecuadorian history, with nearly 700 registered murders nationwide.
