It's Monday, September 11th, 2023and welcome to the September edition of Hills Review -- the High School East Student Podcast. At the start of each month during the school year, we release an assortment of student opinion pieces, stories, documentaries, and interviews. Our podcast is produced by members of the Podcasting and Filmmaking club – and is available on Soundcloud, as well as Spotify and Apple Podcasts. Here's what's coming up this week: The terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001 affected many people in tragic ways. Sally Hassanein, who works for the US Attorney’s Office in Manhattan and speaks both English and Arabic, was a translator during the interrogation of the suspects. This Tuesday, she speaks with Amir Hussein, about her experience. Have you ever watched a movie where a student falls asleep in class? Ever read a book where the main character is always spacing out in school? This can be due to a lack of sleep, something that affects students in the real world every day. This Wednesday, Justin Rimpel looks at why so many high schoolers come to school absolutely exhausted–and the best way to solve this problem. Student Athletes put a tremendous amount of time and effort into their sport. With the help of their coaches and teammates, this experience helps build character. On Thursday, Anthony Giacoponello looks at the varsity boys and girls soccer teams and how they not only build successful programs, but also develop strong individuals. Conducted by Mr. Belanich, the Half Hollow Hills Cross Campus Wind Ensemble is an award-winning ensemble composed of the best of the best of High School East and High School West band students. This Friday, Allie Lerner explores the ensemble's origins and the achievements of the group. Hills Review is produced by members of the Podcasting and Filmmaking Club. If you are interested in becoming a contributor, see Mr. Beatty in room 216. If you like this podcast – please tell one friend about it. Word of mouth is the best way to get more people listening to our show. Welcome back to school – and have a great week.
