Chip, chip, chip, chip… SWING!!!

Thank you for calling GIH where we instigate growth one call at a time where we utilize antiquated technology to deliver 3-minute leadership lessons every week day! This is message #196 and I am Aaron Havens.

Raise your hand if you’ve ever used an axe to chop down a tree?
I see you! Wow, that’s impressive.

Every fall my dad would take my brother and I to gather wood. With mouths full of sunflower seeds (I guess that’s what real lumberjacks snack on), we would take an axe, a saw and and chair saw. For obvious reasons my dad was more often the one with the chainsaw. My brother is pretty methodical in his focus, so he would typically get the saw. I on the other hand… yeah, my endless energy would be put to work with an axe. How may licks does it take to get to the center of of tootsie roll lolly pop you ask?…haha… how many swings does it take to chop down a tree?

Slowly each swing would chip away at the tree. Chip, chip, chip, chip… and when the tree was barely upright… SWING! TIMBER!

The big picture: Chopping down the tree, could only be achieved by the small details: One swing at a time.

Is what you’re doing tedious? Are you tempted to put the axe down? Are you thinking your effort are barely making a difference?

Steve Job has a quote. ”Focusing on the big picture doesn’t mean ignoring the details; it means not losing yourself in them.”

Each swing is imperative to chopping down a tree. Planning where the next swing hits and at what angle is important. Don’t get so focused on the single chips that you loose sight of chopping down the tree. Be methodical with your chips and swings today. Don’t get discouraged. Don’t get distracted. Chip chip chip chip and then SWING. Give it all you got. TIMBER that thing today! Where you’re going is worth it!

Thanks for calling in today. Tune in tomorrow for a fresh new topic. My friends, did you notice this is #196! Wow the days are flying by. Good news. We aint stopping anytime soon! In fact, on Episode #200 we have a big reveal for where this Growth Instigator Hotline train is going. Can you do us a favor? Let’s build momentum. Would you share this number with three people and ask them to call in each day this week? It would be amazing to come at #200 with lots of momentum and lots of people calling in! So after the beep… are you willing to ask three people in your phone book to call in today? Let me know. Thank you!
