This week's episode asks the question if Afrikans in the UK have anything to celebrate as it marks the 75th anniversary of contemporary migration of Afrikan people into the UK with the advent of The Empire Windrush landing in Tilbury Docks in June 1948.
We explain that the arrival of the 'Windrush' generation in 1948 DID NOT signify the genesis of Afrikan life in the UK. We point out that Afrikans have been in the UK for thousands of years and in fact ARE THE ORIGINAL people of the UK.
We detail why Afrikans from the Caribbean were invited to come to the UK to help re build the UK after the second European tribal war of 1939- 1945.
We explain that despite the vicious hostile environment that existed at the time of their arrival , in some cases resulted in death, the 'Windrush' generation contributed vastly to the social-economic, development of the UK in areas such as THE NHS, computing, road construction, railways, London underground, factories, manufacturing , textile industry and so forth.
We end by stating that despite some notable achievements, life for Afrikan people in the UK has been a nightmare and this is borne out by the following statistics:
Afrikan (Black) women in the UK are 7 times ore likely to die giving birth or during pregnancy,.
Afrikan men under the age of 35 are 5 times likely to be stopped and search by the police without being charged, in London it is worse,.
The majority of Afrikan (Black) children in UK schools leave school without able to read or write to the international standard.
The UK has more Afrikan (Black) people in prison than any country in THE world including Brazil, The United States and South Afrika.
