Hello Fellow Gen X Enthusiasts,
It has been quite hot over the last few weeks in NorCal and finally Johnny Pendejo and Starchy Archie got together to have a morning walk to chat about what was on our minds pertaining to current events. We recorded this episode on the 4th Of July 2021, so Happy Birthday America!! Starchy shared how big of a deal the BiCentennial was back in 1976, and how it tried to raise peoples spirits in a dour and depressing decade of the 1970's. Also, we spoke of a couple of little movies in the mid to late 70's that emerged to lift peoples spirits as well.
Johnny P shared that he had watched a couple of youtube videos of David Letterman being interviewed by Phil Donahue in 1988 and by Charlie Rose in 1996. JP and SA had a discussion regarding how Late Night tv shaped our appreciation of entertainers that were older than us back in the 70's, 80's, and 90's. We chatted about Johnny Carson, David Letterman, and Conan O'Brien and the influence that they brought to late night tv. JP and SA also compared and contrasted the difference between what was late night tv then and annoyingly what late night tv is today.
