Manage episode 325533297 series 2419184
One of the most gut wrenching problems that has faced the world since humanity could walk upright has become the focus of this incredible documentary by Jain monks Sadhvi Siddhali Shree and Sadhvi Anubhuti, who address the horror of sex trafficking throughout the world. Whether it was because of the #MeToo Movement, the Jeffery Epstein sex island, Billy Cosby or Harvey Weinstein, the catalyst to push this subject into the mainstream does not matter. What matters is that we are talking about this now.
Only ONE percent of the 45 million vicitms (Men, women and children) who are sex trafficked manage to escape, let alone survive and when they do, the mental trauma suffered that the hands of their captures is astounding.
'Surviving Sex Trafficking' follows the journey of several women who managed to escape this horrific life and were able to stand tall again after numerous struggles.
What Sadhvi Siddhali Shree and Sadhvi Anubhuti shine a light on is not only tragedy but hope for these women and how we as human beings can share not only in their pain but their survival as well.
