Stephen “Twitch” Boss: Depression, Suicide, and the Negative Impact of the Holidays
Manage episode 350025319 series 3248476
In this episode, I discuss depression and how masking leads to suicide. We lost another light in the world. Stephen “Twitch” Boss took his life this week. Everyone said, “He seemed so happy!” but where are we holding space to allow him to be unhappy? This is the problem with depression in a world so heavy and oppressive that we feel we have to wear a mask and our order to survive. And truth be told, other people's sadness triggers people. We become avoidant. We don’t hold space for other people's struggles because we’re usually struggling, but we are unwittingly stopping ourselves from healing through solidarity and compassionate empathy. If we want to change the world, we must change how we see sad people struggling and considered “weak. We have all been there too.
Hoping you all have a peaceful holiday season! I will be taking my usual holiday break from the podcast for self-care, but I am still here and available for sessions with those who need support!
