Dream Center Peoria Podcast

As you can imagine, responding to the coronavirus threat looks a little different for us at Dream Center Peoria. Many of whom we serve are homeless, or are looking for a place like Dream Center to come to for help and direction. So we are having to respond in a different way. Here are some of the things that we will be doing to serve our guests and volunteers with dignity, compassion and purpose:

1. DCP HOUSING - Our homeless shelter will be open 24/7 for women, children, fathering dads and families. We have sanitation stations throughout the areas and a heightened level of hygiene.

2. DCP STUDENTS - The governor has closed all schools from March 16th until the end of the month. From March 16th to the 19th, and also March 31st - Project 309 (out of school program) will be open from noon to 4pm each day. There will be mentoring, tutoring, a meal provided, and a whole lot of fun! March 20th -27th is spring break, where we will not have Project 309 (that was already set up, and the students were aware of it). Leading up to April 1st, we will take direction from the city and state authorities on the next steps going into the month of April. All basketball and athletic programs will stop until further notice.

3. DCP CARES - We are cancelling and postponing any big public activities including: Hope Store will be closed March 21st and April 2nd. Volunteers who serve during the week can still come in and help sort everything that comes in. Rethink Poverty Simulation on March 17th will be cancelled and rescheduled. Small groups and Bible studies will remain open to our guests as they are small, and our guests are already in the building.
