Day 355 of the podcast, reading 2 Peter 1-3 NET, read along at:
https://netbible.org/bible/2+Peter+1-3/
This is day 355 of our journey.
Peter wrote this second letter shortly before his execution. He wanted to write another letter to the believers confirming what they had been taught about Jesus. False teachers had arisen proposing that since Jesus hadn't returned yet, he wasn't really coming at all. As a result, they began living immoral lives and were not worried about a future judgment. Peter stresses the fact that he personally saw the glory of God on the mountain and reiterates that everyone will see that same glory when Jesus returns. He then explains the reason for Jesus' delayed return, he is patient and wants everyone to have a chance to repent!
Join me in 2 Peter 1-3 and live good lives with hope for the new heaven and new earth that are coming!
Key verses:
2 Peter 1:10
Therefore, brothers and sisters, make every effort to be sure of your calling and election. For by doing this you will never stumble into sin.
2 Peter 2:9
– if so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from their trials, and to reserve the unrighteous for punishment at the day of judgment,
2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some regard slowness, but is being patient toward you, because he does not wish for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.
