Hell Is Real

Luke 16:19-31 If you listen to the language of our culture, it’s easy to draw the conclusion that our culture has a low view of Hell. For many ‘hell’ is nothing more than a filler word in a sentence. For some, ‘hell’ is a place where really bad people go when they die and definitely not a place for good people like them. For others, the concept of ‘hell’ is comical, or repulsive, or altogether non-existent. So if all of this is true, then why even talk about Hell? Why not avoid the topic and avoid the offense? We talk about Hell because Hell is real. We talk about Hell because Jesus talked about the existence and experience of Hell. We talk about Hell because, according to Jesus, the destination of those who do not “repent and believe in the gospel” is to an eternal, irreversible, conscious torment, separated from God in Hell. And this reality has great impacts on why we ask the question—Who’s Your One? Main Idea—Followers of Jesus prioritize the importance of one because Hell is real.
