Jesse and I finally had a chance to take a much-needed, long-overdue overnight trip to New York City, and we are spending today talking all about it! It had been five whole years since we had spent a night away from home without the kids, and let me tell you, the break was more than refreshing; it was transformative! I am so excited to share how we planned this trip on a budget, why we chose NYC, and how everything came together in a way that exceeded our expectations!

We discuss why this trip was so special, from navigating the city’s public transportation to making use of loyalty points for our hotel right in the heart of Times Square. The city was bustling, the weather was perfect, and Central Park on a Sunday afternoon was an experience that I simply could not wait for Jesse to have!

We packed so much into 36 hours, from exploring Fifth Avenue to enjoying a meal at the boathouse overlooking a beautiful pond, and for the first time in years, we felt completely at ease. No kids, no emergencies - just the two of us spending time together.

I also reflect on the challenges of the past few years, including parenting, health issues, and juggling life’s many demands. This trip wasn’t just a getaway; it was a reminder of how important it is to prioritize our marriage and ourselves, so join us as we look back on this unforgettable trip and share some tips for anyone planning a quick yet meaningful escape to the Big Apple!
