She has been studying and visiting China for over 30 years and has written on a wide range of topics related to Chinese society, culture, disability and para-sport. Her latest book Disability in Contemporary China: Citizenship, Identity and Culture (Cambridge University Press, 2020) explores the ways in which disability has been understood in China from the 20th century onwards.
