Following our theme of learning the fundamentals of FinOps, Nick and Jason are back to discuss its phases. Our duo defines and explains the ins and outs of the three phases of FinOPs, namely; Inform, Optimize, and Operate.

JASON: PHASE 1 - INFORM

“The first phase (Inform) is all about visibility into your cloud usage, cloud spend, and allocating that environment out in your context.”

JASON: PHASE 2 - OPTIMIZE

“The Optimize phase is, is the second phase and is more about identifying measuring optimizations, like right-sizing, underutilized resources, or maybe abandoned resources. We also like to think that it includes some level of configuration and misconfiguration management,”

JASON: PHASE 3 - OPERATE

“The Operate phase is implementing the processes to make sure that you're doing all of the things on a recurring basis and that you've changed the culture within the organization so that you're continually providing the visibility and allocation that you need.”
