Pastor Micah continued in our current series this week called "Honor" which focuses on the topic of honor. In this 3 week series we we look at the importance of honoring God, honoring those in authority, and honoring those around us! This week we looked at Matthew 20 and the conversation between Jesus and John, James, and their mother about who would sit in the spots of honor next to Jesus in Heaven. We looked at three biblical examples of authority that each of us have in our lives: our parents, our leaders, and our pastors. I want you to consider these 3 questions when you think about whether or not you have been honoring those in authority in your life:
- When is the last time you encouraged a leader, your boss, or pastor?
- When was the last time you said, “thank you” for all that they do for you?
- When was the last time you did something to make their lives easier?
Bottom Line: The principle that Jesus taught is this: if serving is beneath you, leadership is beyond you. You want to be a leader one day? Serve. Swallow your pride and serve your leader.
