- the "word" from Kyndra: Pulperia (Pulp•per•ría)
This is similar to the old neighborhood corner store. In Honduras it is common for a house in a neighborhood to to have a room or small portion of the property that is used as a store. These small stores can also be considered a micro-enterprise.
The pulpería is an important way local economies work. The pulpería sell food staples, beverages, candy. Some sell sanitary items, cleaning supplies...essentially anything one might find in a corner store in the USA. The pulpería owners purchase their inventory from bodegas (Bow•day•ga) which is comparable to wholesalers in the USA.
