Manage episode 313039978 series 3257194
Welcome to the third episode of the Atlas Covid-19 Interview Series, where MIAS invites expert guests on our Atlas podcast to discuss the impact of Covid-19 on their area of study within international affairs.
In the upcoming episode, hear from Prav, Winuri and Arshiya as we interview two special guests, Eliza and Charity from Halad 2 Health.
Halad to Health is an international not for profit & registered charity closing the gap in global health inequality through delivering free & accessible health education services to those most in need, by running preventative health education volunteer mission trips to some of the most disadvantaged communities in rural Philippines. They take university student volunteers from Australia on a 2 week experience to teach on important health topics from dengue to depression in local schools and health facilities in the community. They sustain these mission trips because Halad to Health raises funds through a super affordable GAMSAT and Med Interview Tuition tuition course they run. The funds raised from these services go straight to the Halad to Health Foundation Philippines, and give free health education services to those who may not have access otherwise.
Eliza is Co-founder & Managing Director of Halad to Health and Associate at Boston Consulting Group. Today, Eliza serves to guide the incredible team building Halad as it’s been the most humbling experience for Eliza to see how much young people can achieve and to when given the right opportunities to grow.
Charity began as an ambassador for Halad to Health at a school in which Halad volunteers taught at and is now the Project Lead at Halad to Health Philippines and first year nursing student at Central Mindanao University. She makes sure all the health education programs in-country are delivered with unconditional empathy and suit the local context. During this pandemic, she has led the team to focus on youth mental health awareness, which is a current and growing problem in-country.
Keep an eye out for final interview in this series coming next week!
