It was buried in the news in February but the death date has been revealed for the top load washing machine, the gas dryer, and maybe even your electric clothes dryer.

The date...March 28th 2028 is when the new energy standards will go into effect to make top load washing machines have the same water usage as a front load. That by default will eliminate that top load washing machine from the US market. Also it looks like they are going to eliminate gas dryers and electric dryers and force heat pump dryers to be the standard at the same time per the Department of Energy. The details have not been released but looking at the press release they are not trying to keep this much of a secret.
