RUSSELL BIO After being a single-parent for 25 years and a family counselor for 28, Lynn became an author. But…there’s much more to the story: As a young child (age 7) Lynn was assessed as “retarded” and put into the Opportunity and learned skills. All her life she was treated as though she was slow and stupid, and just figured it was true. In her teens, she began to think about marriage but believed no one would want her. She started reading books on mythology, psychology, philosophy, and studying various religions, and pretended she to be smart. She also became fascinated with cosmology and science. Lynn married an abusive alcoholic like her father, which resulted in a nervous breakdown at age 31. It was the best thing that happened. In the hospital, she learned that she was actually at the top level of intelligence.! Shortly thereafter, she packed up the kids and left town. Although never going beyond grade 8, she proceeded with correspondence courses in grade 10 math, and grade 11 English and was shocked at getting top grades! She acquired a job in the Family Therapy Program at the Alberta Children’s Hospital and repeatedly the yearly assessment she received top grades. While there she embarked on a journey and attended many courses on Family Therapy, Child Sexual Abuse, and so many more. After retirement in 2005, Lynn loves to challenge herself to see where her limit is. To date…she becomes an artist, author, workshop facilitator, and speaker. The learning never stops.
