Adam Stern is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and the Director of Psychiatry at BIDMC’s Berenson-Allen Center for Noninvasive Brain Stimulation.
He attended Brown University, SUNY Upstate Medical University, and the Harvard Longwood Psychiatry residency program.
Adam’s published writing spans from his academic work to creative non-fiction and fiction as well. Among many other outlets, his essays have appeared in The New York Times, The Boston Globe Magazine, The New England Journal of Medicine, and JAMA.
He was featured on the cover of The Boston Globe for his extensive writing as a psychiatrist who has now become a patient living with cancer.

He has appeared on CNN as a psychiatric expert during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Adam also chronicles his observations about psychiatry, medicine, and life in general through his cartoon series, Shrunk MD, and c0-hosts the podcast, Characters on the Couch.
